Trojan Debaters Win Numerous Honors at State Tournament

On Mar. 3, the NSHS Debate Team competed at the Texas Forensics Association State Speech and Debate Tournament. On the heels of their qualification for the NFL National Tournament the previous weekend, Smith Debate travelled to Amarillo, sending six students into the elimination rounds of Public Forum Debate, Extemporaneous Speaking, and Impromptu. Smith Debate is coached by Chris Agee and Robert Martin.

• Tanya Rajan–T-9 in International Extemp, 5th place Public Forum Debate
• Jennifer Pham and Sam Winstel–Undefeated 4th seed in Public Forum Debate, T-17 Public Forum Debate
• Michael Schrag–Presiding Officer gavel in Congressional Debate, T-17 in U.S. Extemp
• Sarah Withers–Quarterfinalist in Impromptu
• Madison King–9th in prelims of Congressional Debate
