February is Career and Technical Education Month

Did you know? Career and Technical Education (CTE) instructors in C-FB teach a variety of middle and high school courses like Cosmetology, Animation, Career Portals and Forensic Psychology. The high school courses often provide students with the opportunity for college credit, nationally recognized certification and internships. Eighteen of the CTE courses offered in C-FB ISD are available for dual credit through Dallas County Community College District. All of these courses prepare students for post-secondary education and the workforce.

The CTE classes also offer students an opportunity to gain a certification in a specific area. The nationally recognized certifications offered in C-FB include Emergency Medical Technician, Pharmacy Technician, Certified Nurse Assistant, Microsoft Office Specialist, Veterinary Medical Assistant, ServSafe, CPR, and the Texas Cosmetology license. During the 2010-11 school year, over 150 students received these certifications.
