CHS Students Compete in Japanese Speech Contest, Qualify for State

On Feb. 11, students taking Japanese at Creekview High School participated the 15th Annual Dallas Japanese Speech Contest sponsored by the Dallas Japanese Association, the Japan-America Society DFW and the Japanese Teachers Association of Texas. They competed against 75 other students in the Dallas area. Five students from CHS placed, and two students, Kennedy Schleicher and Tristan Arizala qualified for State. The Texas State Speech Contest will be held in Houston on Mar. 10.

Individual Results:
Division 1 (Level 1 Poetry Recitation)
2nd Place: Shafer Wilkerson
3rd Place: Kim Phan

Division 2 (Level 2 Poetry Recitation):
1st Place: Kennedy Schleicher

Division 4 (Level 4 Free Speech):
2nd Place: Tristan Arizala
3rd Place: Diana Kern
