Turner Teacher Named 2012 Texas History Teacher of the Year

R. L. Turner teacher Robyn Elliott was the 2012 Texas History Teacher of the Year. The Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, HISTORY®, and Preserve America are honored to celebrate the outstanding work that Robyn does in the classroom. A panel of teachers, administrators, and academics from your state selected Robyn for her use of primary documents in the classroom, the level of inspiration that she provides to students and her career achievements in education.

As the 2012 Texas History Teacher of the Year, Robyn will receive a $1,000 award, a certificate of recognition, an archive of books and historical resources presented in her name to the Turner school library, and an invitation to attend a 2013 Gilder Lehrman Teacher Seminar. Robyn is also a finalist for the $10,000 National History Teacher of the Year Award.
