On Nov. 21, the Newman Smith Swim Team competed at the Frisco Invitational. Senior Adrien Lewis took second place in the 100 Breaststroke and was the top performer in the squad. He also took 4th in the 200 IM and participated in 2 relays. Connor Shackelford took second in diving. Freshman Taylor Mason was the top female competitor for the Trojans, picking up two 8th place finishes in the 200 IM and 500 Free. On the board, Brittany Naon was 4th in diving. Other Trojan qualifiers for this meet were Geoff Bergman, Mihai Stanciu, Eric Drake, Peter Swanson, Bryn Smernoff, Kaleigh Putter, Jacki Brewer and Laura Kanter.
Meanwhile, Shackeford and Christian Young competed against some of the state’s best divers at the 5A TISCA Championship at The Colony. Shackelford earned 7th place, while Young was 21st. For her dedication and status as the overall point leader halfway through the season, Taylor Mason was named the team’s fifth “Athlete of the Week!.”
