On Oct. 27, he Newman Smith Boys’ Cross Country team took third place
honors at the District 10-4A competition. They now advance to the
regional competition to be held at University of Texas at Arlington on
Nov. 3.
Newman Smith was led by team captain, Danny Debes, who won the
individual district championship with a time of 16:27.09, a full eight
seconds ahead of the next competitor. Also finishing in the top ten for
Newman Smith was Jeffrey Moore who took 6th place with a fine time of
16:46.41.
Additionally, the Smith girls finished in 6th place as a team with Nani Torres leading the team to place 17th individually.
