Three Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD students received scholarships at the LINC North Texas spring
gala on April 12.
Kathy Felix is a
senior at Newman Smith High School, Marcela Castillo and Alicia Solis are seniors at R.L. Turner High
School. Each of the three ladies was
awarded a $1,000 scholarship for the first year of college.
“We were very impressed
with all the applicants, and these three ladies show character and leadership
in their everyday lives,” said Oscar Benavides, executive director of LINC
North Texas.
At the gala, all
three students shared their goals for the future and thanked the people who
helped get them to this point including their teachers and parents.
“This is a very
exciting moment for me,” said Kathy Felix as she thanked those who made the
scholarship possible.
Marcela Castillo
will be the first in her family of seven to graduate high school and attend
college. She hopes to make a long-term
