Congratulations to Sarah Grace Withers on winning 3rd place in Lincoln Douglas Debate at the UIL Speech and Debate State Championship Tournament. After winning District and Regional titles Sarah reached the semifinals of the State Tournament finishing the spring with a 14-1 record in UIL competition.
This year in UIL competition the students debated the following topic : RESOLVED: In matters of justice, John Rawls' Difference Principle ought to be preferred over Robert Nozick's Entitlement Theory. Students alternate each round which side of the topic they debate.
Additionally, Wither’s also placed 7th in Informative Speaking at the tournament.
Next she will compete at the National Championship Tournament in Legislative Debate in Alabama June 16-June 22.
