Trojan Debater Wins Awards at Tournament
On Oct. 29, Newman Smith debater Michael Schrag competed at the Plano West Speech Tournament and placed 1st in U.S. Extemporaneous Speaking, 3rd in Congressional Debate and reached semi-finals in Dramatic Interpretation. The combined effort earned Schrag the Inaugural Richard Holland Memorial Award and gave the Trojans the sweepstakes trophy for "squad efficiency." Schrag is now qualified for the TFA State Tournament in March. On Oct. 22, Schrag also took 3rd place in U.S. Extemporaneous Speaking and was a finalist in Congressional Debate at the Guyer Speech Tournament.
