Congratulations to the Newman Smith Marching Band for
qualifying for the UIL State Marching Band Competition scheduled for November
8, in San Antonio. The band, competing in the Region 24B Area Band
Competition on Saturday, finished fourth among the top 30 bands in North Texas to
qualify for its second consecutive State UIL appearance in two years.

The six bands selected to compete at State were Aledo
(6th Place); Sherman (5th Place); Newman Smith (4th Place); Birdville (3rd
Place); Wakeland (2nd Place) and Centennial (1st Place).
