NSHS Debater Makes History in C-FB ISD

Newman Smith Debate student, Sarah Grace Withers, has won the region championship for the 3rd year in a row. After winning her 3rd consecutive UIL District Lincoln Douglas Debate Title last month, she followed it up by winning her 3rd consecutive UIL Region Lincoln Douglas Debate Title at UTA on April 20. 

She is the first debater in the history of C-FB ISD to win the UIL Region Lincoln Douglas debate title 3 years in a row. Withers is undefeated in the 3 years of District and Region competition with a 33-0 record.

Sarah Grace also won 2nd place in Informative Speaking. She will compete in both events at the UIL State Championship Tournament May 20-22 at the University of Texas.

Additionally, Sam Winstel was a finalist in Persuasive Speaking and is an alternate to the state tournament.
Jeralyn Lopez a 9th grade student tied for 9th at the region tournament in Informative Speaking.
