Town North Bank, located in Dallas, hit $359,000 in scholarships and 113 scholarship recipients after giving away the bank’s 2012 scholarships. Seven Carrollton-Farmers Branch Independent School District (C-FB ISD) seniors received $4,000 each. They are Christian Rafael Covarrubias and Soledad Diaz, R. L. Turner; Raquel Rodriguez and Jalicia Chenne` Smith, Newman Smith; Treslyn Larae Holden and Allison Nicole Price, Creekview; Daniela Jocabed Ortiz, Ranchview.
The students were selected as bank scholarship recipients because of their ability to achieve and their commitment to purpose. The bank began the scholarship program in 1991. This year the bank presented $28,000 in scholarships.
Mr. Steven McDonald, Town North Bank president and chief executive officer, said, “The bank’s Board of Directors made this commitment to these students because we believe in public education. But, we really believe in this school district -- the Carrollton-Farmers Branch School District.”
Dr. Bobby Burns, C-FB ISD superintendent of schools, said, “Town North Bank has a long history of being a Carrollton-Farmers Branch School District advocate. We value the bank’s continued support of our district and public education. These scholarships will jump start the college education of these students.”
