Five RLT Seniors Named National Hispanic Recognition Scholars
R. L. Turner High School seniors Brenda Cecena, Jorge Chacon, Kevin
Garcia, Joseph Peña, and Victor Ron have been named National Hispanic
Recognition Scholars for 2012. The National hispanic Recognition Program
(NHRP) was founded in 1983 by the College Board’s National Merit
Scholarship Corporation. NHRP Scholars must meet the minimum PSAT/NMSQT
cutoff score for the state and achieve a minimum grade point average
(GPA) requirement. The NHRP honors approximately 5,000 of the highest
scoring students from the approximately 235,000 Hispanic/Latino juniors
who take the PSAT/NMSQT.
