Putting the Spotlight on Success at R. L. Turner High School

The success of any educational endeavor begins with exceptional leadership.  C-FB ISD is proud to announce that Mansoureh Tehrani, Director of Math, Engineering, Technical and Science Academy (METSA) located at R. L. Turner High School, is the recipient of the prestigious Susan Schilling Legacy Award.  She was honored with this award at the New Tech Network Annual Conference (NTAC) in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

METSA’s mission is to inspire a community of lifelong learners who meet or exceed Texas educational requirements and graduate prepared to pursue their postsecondary ambitions in math, science, technology or engineering. In 2010-11 METSA had 100 percent one year graduation rate with 100 percent of its student accepted to college.

The program is for students interested in the field of Engineering. The program offers a developmental four year sequence of courses which, when combined with college preparatory mathematics and science courses, introduces students to the discipline of engineering and engineering technology, with the appropriate scope and rigor prior to entering college.

I am not at all surprised that Ms. Tehrani has received this award, nor am I surprised at the success rate at this wonderful school. My son was among the 100% of that 2010-2011 school year, and I can honestly say that the METSA program was the best thing that ever happened to him. The structure of this program is conducive to all learning types and I believe it was responsible for helping my son grow from a struggling student with ADHD to a well-equipped Freshman in college with a 4.0 grade average. Ms. Tehrani has done an outstanding job as director of this program, and for that we will always be thankful!
