Newman Smith High School held their 2011 Homecoming Pep Rally on Oct. 28. At the event, Courtney Okolo was honored as the Verizon Community Leader of the Week.

Ventriliquist Entertains at Strickland Intermediate

On Oct. 28, ventriliquist Dennis Lee held a special puppet presentation for Red Ribbon Week for students. Students were told about the dangers of drugs, alcohol and tobacco.

 

BMX Trick Rider Gives Anti-Drug Message to Rosemeade Elementary

On Oct. 24, a BMX bike rider demonstrated several tricks he learned after years of practice. He explained the importance of bicycle safety as well as how avoiding drugs, alcohol and tobacco helped to make him successful in pursuing his dreams.

Ranchview High School Students Collecting Coins to Find a Cure

Ranchview High School students are participating in the Pasta for Pennies campaign which benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society from Oct. 30 through Nov. 18. For three weeks, students will bring in spare change to save the lives of people touched by blood cancers, such as leukemia.  These diseases strike more children and young adults under the age of 20 than any other type of cancer.

Ranchview High School has set a goal of $1,500 for this three-week campaign.  This fundraiser is sponsored by the Ranchview's Softball and Baseball programs.  To recognize the students of the school's highest fundraising classroom, Olive Garden will provide a Pasta Party.
In 2009-2010, over $22 million was raised by schools throughout the country, which participated in School & Youth Programs such as Pennies For Patients. Last year, a record-breaking 535 schools in North Texas raised over $636,000.

This year, the North Texas Chapter hopes to exceed that goal with the help of Ranchview and many others collecting change for this service-learning program endorsed by the Texas Association of Student Councils (TASC). Funds raised through these schools support the Society’s mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. This year's goal is set at $675,000, and Ranchview High School is helping the North Texas Chapter reach that goal.

Veteran's Day Celebrations

In C-FB ISD, character counts.  Honoring those men and women who currently serve or have served our country is a large part of our character education program.

Several C-FB schools will honor Veterans, our Military and our First Responders in November.

• Vivian Field Middle School Veteran's Day Celebration, Nov. 15 at 2:45 pm

We encourage all community members to join us for these special celebrations to honor those who serve our nation and community. 

DEA Helicopter Visits Blair Elementary

On October 25, the DEA Helicopter landed at Blair Elementary. The pilots aboard and other DEA officers spoke to the students about staying drug-free, making healthy choices, and the meaning of Red Ribbon Week. The campus celebrated Red Ribbon Week in various ways including the landing of the DEA Helicopter.

Way to Go Ranchview Band

The Ranchview High School Band earned First Division and Superior ratings from all judges in the UIL Region 24 Marching Band Competition held Saturday.

Other accolades that the Ranchview Band has received include:

• UIL Marching Contest: I, I, I
• Midlothian Marching Band Showcase: I, I, I, I, I; first place  – music, first place - overall
• Tournament of Champions: I, I, I, I, I; second place - overall, first place - music
• 13 Consecutive First Division, Superior, Ratings in 2011-2012
• 115 Consecutive First Division Ratings overall since 2006

Polk Thinks Pink - 2011

On Oct. 19, Polk Middle School students took the shape of a ribbon on the football field, holding pink ribbons, then releasing them. Many students & staff wore pink for the occasion. Way to go Polk Panthers!

On Oct. 14, the Ranchview Wolves held their 2011 Homecoming Parade. Students from Riverchase Elementary, Freeman Elementary and Bush Middle School also attended the event.
