Wolves Beat Personal Best Times

On Nov. 3, Ranchview Junior Sarah Rovi led the Wolfpack by winning the 200 Free at the annual “C-FB Non-TISCA Invitational” at the Standridge Stadium Natatorium. Rovi also won bronze in the 100 Back to help lead the Ranchview girls’ swimming and diving team to a 6th place finish out of the field of 20 teams from across North Texas. The boys’ team ended up in 13th spot overall, highlighted by a victory from Kazuomi Motoike in the 500 Free and his silver medal swim in the 100 Fly. Both performances were personal best times by a significant margin. For his improvement, commitment and strong work ethic, Motoike was named the team’s third “Athlete of the Week!”

Trojan Band Takes Superior Ratings at Region 24 UIL Contest

On Oct. 20, the Newman Smith High School Trojan Band participated in the Region 24 UIL Contest at Standridge Stadium. The Trojans received Superior ratings in all categories.

Perry Honor Society Visits Seniors at Emeritus Assisted Living

On Oct. 27, students from the National Junior Honor Society at DeWitt Perry Middle School took part in “Family Day” at the Emeritus Assisted Living Home in Farmers Branch, TX. Students handed out goodies, hosted Bingo and Wii bowling games and visited with the residents.

Local McDonald’s Supports Landry Elementary With Fundraiser

On Sep. 25, McDonald’s at 635 and McArthur hosted “Landry Night” as a fundraiser for Landry Elementary. Nearly $200 was raised toward scholarships for the 4th grade field trip to Austin, TX. Every student from Landry that visited during the fundraiser was entered into a drawing to win a bicycle, which was donated by McDonald’s. Landry student Justin Davis was the winner of the drawing.

School-Pons Program Allows Staff, Students & Community Members to Get Discounts While Supporting C-FB ISD

School-Pons are coupons that give cost savings to the consumer while supporting the school district as well. Students, staff, and members of the C-FB community can now support C-FB as they shop at local businesses, while also receiving discounts with participating merchants. The program replaces the Academic Honor Card program for honor students and the Applause Card for staff members, while also allowing more people to join in for a nominal fee.

There is zero cost to taxpayers for this program.

NSHS CX Team Heading to Regionals

On Oct. 27, he Newman Smith Boys’ Cross Country team took third place honors at the District 10-4A competition. They now advance to the regional competition to be held at University of Texas at Arlington on Nov. 3.

Newman Smith was led by team captain, Danny Debes, who won the individual district championship with a time of 16:27.09, a full eight seconds ahead of the next competitor. Also finishing in the top ten for Newman Smith was Jeffrey Moore who took 6th place with a fine time of 16:46.41.

Additionally, the Smith girls finished in 6th place as a team with Nani  Torres leading the team to place 17th individually.

Blalack Lady Bears Triumph as Volleyball Season Comes to an End

On Oct. 22, the B-Team 7th grade Blalack Middle School Lady Bears capped off their winning season at Long Middle School on Monday night with a final victory against the Falcons in 7th Grade volleyball action. Winning the first two games of the match, the Lady Bears beat the Falcons 25-7 in Game 1 and 25-12 in Game 2, playing their way to a 5-2 record.

The 7th Grade A Team competed against the Falcons, winning Game one with a score of 25-18. In game two, Long won 25-23, with the Lady Bears taking the win in Game 3 with a score of 26-24.
The 8th grade Lady Bears hosted the 8th grade Lady Falcons of Long Middle School, with the B team winning Game 1 with a score of 25-19 and winning Game 2 with 25-22. The B team’s season ended with 5 and 2.

The A Team 8th grade Lady Bears won the first game 25-18 and the third game 25-22. The Lady Bears have one more game against Polk before the end of season tournament.

Blalack 7th & 8th Grade Bears Defeat Perry in Football

On Oct. 23, the Blalack Middle School 7th Grade football B-team took on the Perry Eagles. The Bears sacked the quarterback in the endzone for a safety on the second play of the game, getting a touchdown run with under a minute left on the clock, with a final score of 26-0, and the 8th Grade B-Team extended their record to 5-0 with a win over the DeWitt Perry Eagles 8-7.
