RLT launches Online Newspaper
The journalism strand in R. L. Turner's Academy for Media Arts and Technology (AMAT) has launched an online newspaper featuring stories, pictures and video. The students are using all areas of AMAT to create an online journalism environment.

Rotary Club Supports Farmers Branch Elementary
The Carrollton-Farmers Branch Rotary Club donated school supplies and backpacks for a mentoring program at Farmers Branch Elementary School. The school received the following supplies:
85 composition books
108 spirals
25 backpacks
102 glue sticks
79 packages of pencils
4 highlighters
142 folders
15 packages of markers
19 packages of colored pencils
30 boxes of crayons
6 pencil boxes
18 pairs of scissors
6 packages of Sharpie markers
6 packages of binder clips
6 packages of pencil top erasers
2 packages of sticky notes
2 packages of wet wipes
In addition to providing funds for school supplies, the club has provided mentors to five C-FB ISD schools; over the last 13 years, the members from the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Rotary Club have mentored more than 150 C-FB ISD students.

Target, Rotary Club Join Forces for Schools

For the second year, the Target Store in Carrollton at Josey Lane and George Bush Tollway has donated approximately $1,200 in school supplies to the district thanks to the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Rotary Club. The 1,254 packages of filler paper and 353 notebooks have been distributed to Dave Blair Elementary, Carrollton Elementary, Central Elementary, and Kathryn S. McWhorter Elementary.
The store’s Asset Protection Executive Team Leader Scott Keen coordinated the donation from Target and worked with Regina Edwards, Past President of the Rotary Club, and Archie Nettles, former Rotaract member at Brookhaven College, to deliver the supplies to the district.
Dr. Bobby Burns, Superintendent of Schools, said, "We appreciate Target's support of C-FB ISD, our campuses and students. We also thank the store for believing in public education and supporting the Carrollton-Farmers Branch Rotary Club. Target's efforts along with the Rotary Club are impacting the lives of the C-FB ISD students."

Vivian Field Inviting Veterans To Special Assembly
Vivian Field Middle School will honor veterans in a special assembly on Tues., Nov. 15 at 2:45 p.m. in the school's gym,13551 Dennis Road, Farmers Branch. Principal Dan Ford said, "We are extending a special invitation to our veterans because the students and staff are planning a special tribute to those who have served our country."

Ranchview Band Wins At Midlothian Showcase
The Ranchview High School Band was awarded the Outstanding Musical Performance and Best In Class awards at the Midlothian Marching Showcase on Sat., Oct. 1. The band competed against 27 other bands.

October 10 Fair Day Holiday
October 10 is a student holiday in honor of Fair Day. We hope our students enjoy the day off and the State Fair of Texas. Classes will resume on October 11.
Remember, State Fair visitors can park for free at DART Rail stations and then take the Green Line directly into Fair Park. Two stops serve the fairgrounds: Fair Park Station, located on Parry Avenue at the main fairgrounds entrance, and MLK, Jr. Station, located south of R.B. Cullum Blvd. and convenient to the MLK entrance (Gate 6) and the Cotton Bowl Stadium.
